Hi everyone! My name is Charlotte Harding, and Off-Cut Lottie is my sustainable fashion brand. It has always been apparent to me in my work, that to be a sustainable designer, one must create clothing collections with a concern for the environment at the forefront. 

 

As a designer, I have found it hard to balance the concept of creating new clothing for a world that already has far too much. However, something that has stood out to me, was the lack of clothing made that has been built to last. We are saturated in the fashion industry with pieces that are cheaply made; no thought for the makers and no care about the conditions in which they work. This is why a Master’s in Knitwear at Nottingham Trent University, learning how to create pieces to last, was the first stepping stone for me to launch my sustainable knitwear brand! 

 

I am using this time to explore concepts, test ideas and push the boundaries of knitting, and how I can create a collection of transformative, durable clothing. For a world always seeking something new, my brand aims to sustainably create pieces that can be interchanged with one another in the collection, built to withstand years of wear.
